STEVEN SEAGAL: MODERN DAY DA VINCI…

Steven Frederic Seagal[2][3][4] (born April 10, 1952)[1] is an American action film star, producer, writer, martial artist, guitarist and reserve deputy sheriff. A 7th-dan black belt in Aikido, Seagal began his adult life as an Aikido instructor in Japan.[5] He became the first foreigner to operate an Aikido Dojo in Japan.[6]

He later moved to the Los Angeles, California, area where he made his film debut in 1988 in Above the Law. By 1991, he had starred in three successful films, and would go on to achieve greater fame in Under Siege (1992), where he played Navy SEALs counter-terrorist expert Casey Ryback. However, his image became tarnished when both On Deadly Ground (1994, which he directed) and Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995) did poorly in theaters. During the later half of the 90s, he starred in three more theatrical films and a direct-to-video The Patriot. Aside from Exit Wounds (2001) and Half Past Dead (2002), his career shifted almost entirely to direct-to-video films (often low budget productions and shot in Europe or Asia). Between 1998 to 2009, he appeared in a total of 22 of these. At the age of 59, he finally returned to the big screen as Torrez in the 2010 film Machete. As of 2011, he’s currently busy with the third season of his reality show Steven Seagal: Lawman.

Seagal is also a recording artist and guitarist and the founder of Steven Seagal Enterprises.[7] In addition to his professional achievements, he is also known as an environmentalist, an animal rights activist and a supporter of the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, and the Tibetan independence movement.

grey skies and silver linings

With the recon of one of my old hard discs, I found a folder titled ‘lost jams’. These turned out to be RA-X tracks, some transferred from tape, some gathering digital dust. I released a bunch of records as RA-X, most of them heavy and distorted electro on several labels. Insert obligatory discogs list here. In the period 1993-2003, I recorded loads or material, some of it its lost forever when I accidently threw out a box of cassette tapes that turned out to be master recordings. These are salvaged now and digitalized to start a new life on the digital plain. I have sequenced them for you and added a sleeve. The metadata for these tracks is impossible to find, the only way to determine the date for these jams some of the info I have written on the tape. From the vaults again. Feel free to share at will.

boddika – spray (drvg cvltvre dip)

In these deep hours of the night, some tunes stand out because of their innovative angle, some because of their retro angle and some blend the two to something completely new. Enter Boddika. Half of the awesome Instra:mental, he stands out into the spotlight on his own as well with his mix of retroviser detroit style and modern techlectro. All his tunes have a downside though. they are a bit to fast to play in my sets. You know how I do, slowing everything down to a crawl… So here’s a revised version of Boddika’s latest, and I believe still upcoming… smashed banger called Spray, with added elements of his last banger When I Dip. Why? because I can.

Wanted to share this little freebie with you. I’ve been working on some new tracks the last two years under the name DRVG CVLTVRE. It’s a slowed down disco/deep house hybrid with global and 80’s pop elements in there as well. I’m quite happy with the results and have some releases upcoming as well.

For now, I’ve chosen these 4 tracks in a neat little package that I’ve made available for download. They have a sleeve as well, so if you are a blogger, you can use it, but you can also do your own creative thing of course… anyway, please listen to the music if you have a chance, it would be greatly appreciated if you do. If you have a last.fm account, please scrobble my music and/or befriend me there? http://www.last.fm/music/drvg+cvltvre is the link for that.
